The best and easiest way to recover old messages is to delete WhatsApp and reinstall it. Like all WhatsApp chats, they are safely stored in backup copies. Backups are created automatically every day at 2:00 am on a phone.

After specifying your verification number, you will be asked to restore a Google Drive backup or import a local file with your message history.

Restore messages from Google Drive backup:

Step 1: Reinstall WhatsApp on your phone.

Step 2: After installing Whatsaap, specify your phone number (add the one you used before).

Step 3: Select the restore method in the "Restore chat history" window and click the "Restore" button.

To back up to Google Drive:

Step 1: open WhatsApp.

Restore from a local file:

In addition to saving Google account information on WhatsApp, there is another way to restore messages from a local file.

You can restore your chat backup from a local file:

Step 1: Go to the file manager

Step 2: Open your card, click WhatsApp, and then click the database folder again (all chat backups are stored there. If there are no files, check the main storage as well).

Step 3: Select the file you want to restore from the list (the format is -YYYY-MM-DD1crypt12). Change the name to crypt12. There is a possibility that an older backup is on an older protocol, such as crypt9 or crypt10. Therefore, never change the number of the crypt extension.

Step 4: Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp.

Step 5: Click when Prompted.
